When it comes to the health and fitness industry and people wanting to become better versions of themselves, a lot of people have trouble taking accountability for their actions.
Some people want to have the results they want but get away without doing the work that’s needed to be done for that and then not taking accountability.
So many times, in my experience I have come into resistance with clients in the past about holding them accountable for not following through with their end of the agreement. Which is staying in the program and changing up their lifestyle.
I know it can be hard, but it was never meant to be easy. Everyone has a different path to take and goals to achieve and some do have it harder than others. But that’s no excuse as to why someone isn’t following through with their plans.
But of course, there is grace given for this too. I understand that some people slip up or they have been awesome regarding their eating or even their training and wanted to take or have a small meal to their liking.
Circumstances happen and they had to miss their training, I get that and understand it. I have been doing this for a long time enough to know how those situations arise and how people who genuinely put hard work into themselves deserve that.
But I also know some people purposely procrastinate and will take advantage of a trainer being too nice or always letting things slip. It can be a bit hard if the person continuously doesn’t follow through with their program but when it's deliberate or the clients are lying or have been caught lying, then it becomes a problem. Because at this point, we have just identified why you have not been getting the results you wanted for the last X amount of months or years.
So, while a trainer will hold you accountable, we also have to realize as the person who is either paying someone to train them or help guide them to their better self, you have to take responsibility for your actions as well. Everything can’t just be relied on by the trainer. You need to also be willing to do whatever you need to succeed. And this is also applied to anything you do in life.
As much as a trainer will hold you accountable, they won’t be there at your house to make sure you’re doing every single thing right. It must be you at the end of it all, who holds yourself the most accountable.
I understand how applying this to your life can be difficult because it's new. But not taking is only going to set one person back. And that’s you. So just remember if you are wanting to put off that session or just go for that extra calorie sugar goodness meal, remember why you started and keep to the plan. And eventually, you will see the results you want.
