Does progressive overload build muscle?

Does progressive overload build muscle?

In short yes.

A progressive overload build muscle for anyone at a steady pace.

But you must make sure you are doing it properly.

What I mean by that is,

As the title implies you need to steadily increase things over time

Now, this can be done in a few diverse ways.

Here are a few you can implement every month to help keep creating,

Progressive overload and build muscle.

1 – increase your reps

Eventually, you want to increase your reps

This doesn’t have to be done drastically but just in a little way

But when you can and feel like you can, doing so every month should be a decent standard.

How much you ask?

Well, if you’re fresh,

Just start off by doing 8-10 reps,

Then next month increase it to twelve

And then fifteen.

But of course, listen to your body.

If you feel as though you can do more then challenge yourself.

Just make sure your form is strict.

2 – add time-based exercises to your workout.

Doing an exercise for 30 seconds or even a minute

Can be particularly challenging for some people.

Probably for most people.

So, add in what you can manage.

And when performing the exercise

Again, always make sure to keep the form as good as possible.

3 – slow down the tempo

Eventually when you can manage it,

Or if you are already able to

Slowing down the tempo is an effective way to create a progressive overload.

Sometimes you don’t need to increase the weight,

Just slow down the movement

And it adds more pressure to the muscle

Making it harder just by doing that.

Controlling the tempo is always a good way to help with increasing progressive overload.

4 – switching up your exercises

This is one that everyone is going to know

Trying new exercises will generally pose somewhat of a challenge for a person.

It's because they haven’t done the exercise before.

And you want this because you not only learn how to perform a new,

Exercise but you are also challenged to create some

Progressive overload.

5 – increase your weight

This is the most common knowledge thing to know.

Increasing your weight, you are lifting when you can

Challenges the muscle, therefore, creating progressive overload

Everyone should be doing this over time as we slowly get stronger.

You don’t even have to increase it by much, depending on what you’re doing.

But everyone should be doing it.

Just applying any of these methods can help push your workouts in,

A positive direction and allow for growth.

Remember you want to challenge yourself every month or more.

It doesn’t have to be much, the scale of threshold can,

Depend on you.

But we are beings of growth and we all should want to be challenged,

Every now and again.

Because if we don’t then we’ll stay stagnant.

And if we stay stagnant, we never grow and become bored of our current state.
