This post is going to be geared more towards guys as generally men want bigger and wider shoulders.
How to get wider shoulders is a thing that a lot of guys want.
Some women too,
But from my experience, mostly men.
And there are a few things you can do to really help widen the shoulders.
But also give the appearance they are wider as well.
But let’s start with the actual means of what you can do to get you some boulder shoulders.
But again, just not,
As I have to say every time.
It takes time to build muscle and build your frame.
And you can’t put on like 30lbs of muscle in a year.
That’s physically impossible, even if you take enhancements of any kind.
Your body just can’t produce that much.
Anywhere between 4 – 12 lbs of lean tissue for the first few years of working out.
And someone will produce on the lower end of that.
Because you then must take into consideration
Their nutrition.
How often do they work out?
Their workout intensity.
their form
how good their contraction is when performing the workout?
multiple factors make a difference.
But anyways, that a time for another discussion
Here are some things you can do to help widen your shoulders.
1 – nutrition
First and foremost is your nutrition
How you eat matters
And what you eat as well
You don’t have to be crazy focused on exactly what you are putting in your body,
But you need to be taking in the right calories and protein,
To ensure that your muscles are being fed.
And, to know that when they start to grow
From the repeated exercise you have been doing over the past months
You are going o feed them the necessary calories
To that their growth can be supplemented with protein and calories
So, they can keep growing.
You build muscle through exercise
And you sustain muscles through nutrition
That shows it works.
2 – lateral raises
This is an obvious one
Because this is going to target the lateral head of the shoulder
Which is also going to make it wider and give your body a wider frame.
Doing lateral raises is a must if you want to get wider shoulders.
But also, how you do them is very essential
3 – perform them with static holds
Now you can do these at the start of your set or the end.
Or even both.
But take a weight you can perform this with.
And of course, make sure your form is good
And hold it on position for 3 seconds or more
And do this for a few reps.
Let’s say 3 to 5 reps
And then continue to perform the exercise until failure.
This is just going to help tear the fibers a lot more and cause more growth over time.
4 – doing rear delts
Working out your rear deltoids and thickening them is going to give you a wider frame.
It will help you look thicker from a side profile and fuller from the front and back.
You can apply the same workout method I said above for this workout method as well.
5 – performing lateral raises with neutral grip hand position
Now doing the lateral raises this way is a different alternative,
But they also help you hit the lateral head a bit more.
So, adding this in is another method you can help to further the growth of your side delts.
6 – building a bigger V-taper
Widening your lats will not directly help your shoulders grow
But they will give the appearance of giving you a wider frame
Which in turn will make you look wider
And help your shoulders pop out more and look broader
It’s a trick bodybuilder commonly use
Get a thicker and wider V-taper is what it’s called
Essentially widening the lats more
Gives the impression of a wider frame and shoulders.
7 – slimming your waist
Getting a slim waist can also give the appearance of a wider frame
Which in turn gives wider shoulders.
Getting a slimmer waist of course is done through nutrition and eating right.
8 – train twice a week
You don’t have to add this step in
I mean if you hit them well enough on one day then they’ll grow
But I mean if you really want to get them to grow more
Then hitting them twice a week will tear the fibers further
But I wouldn’t suggest doing two strength sessions in a week
Focus more on reps and concentrate on the form.
Although strength and low rep, heavy sets are good too,
You should be doing this anyway as if you want growth, repetitions are the way to go.
But listen to your body
If you someone ho just started working out
I wouldn’t suggest this yet
Give yourself a few months first to get your joints and muscles used to the movement
Then add in another day slowly.
I remember wanting a wider shoulder frame was something I wanted when I was younger
Nd to a degree I still do
Just not a much when I was in my younger years
Having a balanced frame is good in my opinion
Try to balance everything out as much as possible
And give yourself an aesthetically pleasing look all around
But at the end of the day,
How to get wider shoulders is up to you.
As you are the sculptor of your own body.
